Police Officer on Duty Shot to Death By Suspected Armed Robbers

Suspected armed robbers have shot to death a police officer and an eyewitness during a robbery of a bullion van at Korle-bu, in Accra, Ghana on Monday.

Adom News’ Mensah Abrampah reports that the van carrying an unknown amount of cash was trailed by some men in a taxi and on a motorbike.

When the van got to a less crowded place, the robbers attacked the van by firing indiscriminately at it killing the police officer on board immediately.

The Adom News correspondent further added that an onlooker who was at the scene caught a bullet from the shooting killing her as well.

However, Vim News reports that “four persons on a motorbike shot into the van and its environs, killing the police officer and bullion van driver whilst injuring one lady who happened to be close to the scene.”

Currently, the bodies of the deceased have been taken to the Police Hospital for preservation and autopsy.

Whereas, the injured is receiving treatment at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, the police have refused to comment on the matter at the moment but are currently at the scene carrying out their preliminary investigations.
